6. What is your pet peeve?
Ignorance. People who comlain about things they know nothing about.
7. Do you keep grudges, or can you let them go easily?

Quite a few, although I doubt they enjoyed it.

Intelligent males learn that a woman WILL NOT respect you if you don't look her in the eyes. I reserve the right to glance occaisonally, however. ;-)
4. Have you "done it"?
Our culture has such puritannical hang-ups. This is such a big deal, and then "grunt", you have. After that, the question changes to "are you doing it often enough?" And probably, the answer is no.

Hair, definitely.
6. Have you ever been propositioned by a prostitute?

Borders/Amazon. Books are my weakness.
3. If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?
I'd pay off my loans, cars, and house. Then I'd buy a few trinkets, things I've wanted for a long time. I'd probably invest the rest in commercial real estate.
4. Would you rather be rich, or famous?
Rich. Neither makes you happy by itself, but I think it's less inconvenient to be rich.
5. Would you accept a boring job if it meant you would make megabucks?

Shoveled the driveway.

ENVY

1. What item (or person) of your friends would you most want to have for your own?

The Seven Heavenly Virtues

FAITH

1. What religion do you follow?
Spirituality hasn't play a big part in my life lately. Largely my belief has withered to the faith that I can guide my own destiny through determination and effort.
2. What religion were you raised as?
My mom would be infuriated to hear this, but, looking back over the course of my childhood, I was raised atheist. My mom was an ex-Catholic, and my dad never said anything even vaguely religious.
3. Do you believe that forgiveness is a religious property, or a human property?
Forgiveness is a human property. However, forgiveness and absolution are different things. Absolution seems like hogwash to me.
4. Do you believe in magic?
Well, someone once defined magic as "technology we do not understand". I do not believe that I have a perfect view of the universe, and there are many things that could operate out of the realm of the physics I was taught in school.
5. What was the last promise you broke?
I haven't broke any in a while. I made a casual study of law, and now my promises tend to have fine print. :-(
6. Have you ever said the words to a prayer and not meant it?
I could count on one hand the number of times I actually prayed, but I meant it every single time.
7. Do you believe that anyone could be perfect?
I believe that perfection is a transitory thing. What is perfect now is different from perfect in five years, or even five minutes. I have experienced brief moments of perfection in my lifetime, and I treasure each of them.

HOPE

1. Did you get everything you wanted over the last holiday season?
Yes, I believe I did.
2. Regarding your future, what is the best thing you could hope for?
Growth. I am not dissatisfied with my current situation, but I don't like the idea that things could be unchanged in fifty years.
3. Do you let yourself get your hopes up for something even if you know that there is a large chance of failure?
Yes, hope keeps me alive through the bad times.
5. Have you ever bought a lottery ticket?
Once or twice.
6. Do you gamble?
Occaisonally. I've never played slots or roulette or anything, but I make token bets on horses I like when we're socializing at the racetrack.
7. Have you ever had something called off on account of bad weather, but then gone ahead and done it anyway?
Probably. Sometimes people overestimate the severity of the weather.

CHARITY

1. What causes do you support?
None. I am convinced that most major charities currently have ulterior political motives.
2. What causes have you given money or time to?
I gave to the Red Cross 9/11 fund. I've given blood a number of times, as well.
3. Have you ever worked in a soup kitchen or done another kind of outreach for the homeless?
No.
4. Would you ever consider joining the Peace Corps, Amnesty International, or another type?
I've heard a number of arguments against the activities of the Peace Corps. Amnesty International offends me deeply.
6. Have you ever helped out a friend with basic needs, like food and rent?
Yes.
7. What's the greatest extent you've gone to help a friend in need?
None of your beeswax.

FORTITUDE

1. What are you most afraid of?
Drowning in bugs.
2. What did you do today that was really brave?
I haven't been challenged today.
3. Who is your favorite superhero, and why?
The Hulk. I had a terrible temper when I was young, and I also dreamed of becoming super strong and crushing my enemies.
4. Would you put your life in danger to rescue someone?
Yes.
5. If you were to face the Wizard, would you want more courage, more brains, or more heart?
Actually, I don't think I need anything from the Wizard.
6. Have you ever gotten stage fright?
Yes, after a long break without being on stage, the first few times are awful.
7. Do you consider yourself to be a leader or a follower?
Generally, I lead. I like to follow, but I would rather take the responsibilty than go down a bad path.

JUSTICE

1. Have you ever been summoned for jury duty?
No, I've been lucky.
2. If they reinstituted the draft (for both genders), would you go, or would you find some way out of it?
I would never be drafted. I would enlist first.
3. Do you support capital punishment (the death penalty)?
Yes, although I think prosecutors seek it far too often.
4. Which should be guaranteed legal, prostitution or marijuana?
I think they both should be legal, but if I *had* to choose, prostitution. Prostitutes can go home at the end of the day, have a shower, and spend time with their kids. Pot heads rarely spend time with their kids.
5. Do you believe that George W. Bush is rightfully President of the USA?
Yes. I respect the law, which clearly got him in on a technicality. I voted for Al Gore, but I haven't been displeased with the performance of our current President. Gore and Leiberman) have said a lot of things since the election that have led me to question my decision to vote for them.
6. What was your favorite media circus trial?
I liked the impeachment trial of President Clinton. So many hypocrites on both sides of the aisle.
7. Have you ever written a letter to a politician?
I've written a number of letters to politicians on everything from asking for an Air Force Academy nomination to complaining about my local government-regulated monopolies.

TEMPERANCE

1. What do you have the hardest time moderating yourself on?
Chocolate, I think.
2. Do you collect anything?
I dally in collecting. I collect a few things, and then lose interest for a while.
3. Are you addicted to anything?
I was addicted to caffiene for a long time. Now, I think I'm just addicted to carbohydrates.
4. Have you ever put anything on layaway or used an installment plan?
I've paid for a few things on installment plans.
5. What's your preferred method of paying for things?
Cash.
6. Tell us one thing you wish you hadn't let yourself do?
I wish I hadn't let my mom convince me not to apply to Harvard, and to back out of my Air Force Academy application.
7. Do you feel that you obsess over things?
I tend to obsess over video games, it drives Zohra crazy.

PRUDENCE

1. Who is the wisest person you know?
I'm not sure. I know many people who have bits of wisdom, but no one that holds universal truth.
2. Have you ever participated in a vigil?
Yes, I've been in a number of vigils.
3. Do you take advice when it's given?
Not necessarily, but I alway carefully consider all honest advice.
4. What area are you wisest in?
I like to think that I'm good at finding solutions to problems that will cause the least amount of future suffering.
5. Do you drive defensively?
Yes. But "sometimes, the best defense, is a strong offense". I wouldn't drive a Geo Metro or Ford Festiva for that reason alone.
6. Have you ever had unprotected sex outside of marriage?
Yes, but I married her soon afterwards. Even then, we were very careful, so I don't really think of it as "unprotected".
7. What did you learn today?
That funky brown goop around the disposal in our brand new sink is pipe sealant. I recognized the stuff when the plumber was installing the new gas dryer and used the same stuff.
8. And of course, what is your favorite heavenly virtue?
Hope. I lack faith, so I compensate with hope.
