So this morning, the threat level is slightly elevated once again. I love being able to judge the terrorist warning level just by riding the train.
In other news, last night was a debacle of attempted sleep. After getting home from work around 7:15-7:30 PM, I scarfed down dinner (literally over the sink) and then waited for
zohra to get home. We talked and goofed around until about 9:45, then there was insomia until about 11:30. I woke up again several times in the night, but managed to get to sleep after awhile.
Cut to about 4:30 AM. This time has cropped up enough times in the last few weeks that I think someone in the neighborhood must be leaving for work at that time. I wake up, and can't get back to sleep, but I'm making an effort. Sometime later, I hear "beep!" through the semi-sleep fog.
The smoke alarm upstairs picked this morning to finish draining its battery. So I get up, turn on the light take off the detector, pull the battery and set it down. I turn out the light and scurry back to bed, thinking maybe I'll still be able to get some more sleep before the alarm goes off at 6:00 AM.
I lay down, and hear "beep!" yet again. There apparently is enough capacitance in the device to run (beeping every 60-90 seconds) for about twenty minutes. By the time it quits beeping, I am fully awake; it is now 5:25 AM.
So, I managed to get on the 7:06 AM train and should be able to leave here around four unless something comes up. That is some comfort, although with no fighter practice, my usual urgency is changed from "must get home, change, eat, swing stick" to "must get home, relax".
I can't wait for this weekend.
