So, four hours, two trips back and forth to the DMV, and about $300 later:
zohra and I have new driver licenses and temporary tags for both cars. Now, I have ten days to get emissions inspections on each one ($20 each), and then I can take them back for permanent registrations.
I don't particularly mind the money, especially since the licenses don't expire until 2011/2012. However, the four hours was pretty brutal for a process that basically took about 12 minutes of our involvement. Most of the time, we were either standing in line, or our paperwork was in a queue. The process probably creates fantastic throughput, but the latency is atrocious.
It was nice watching all the young people getting their first licenses, but not nice enough that I'm looking forward to going back in the next ten days. Anyone have an emissions inspection station they'd like to recommend?
