I finished the ductwork for the kiln and the dryer tonight. I did most of it when I got home, but then we had to run to Lowes for more clamps (Lowe's was out) and some insert material for the windows (I found some red oak 1/4 inch plywood). When I got back, I cut the inserts, broke the windows, and put it all together.

Overall, the project went fairly well. I think next time I would go ahead and use rigid duct. The flexible duct seems like such a great idea, but really it is just a gigantic pain in the ass. Still, I'm just so glad it's done.

Tomorrow, [livejournal.com profile] zohra can fire the kiln for the first time. That should be pretty dull really: it takes 12 hours.

The only piece of this project left is that I need to wire up a new circuit and install an outlet for the Envirovent (it's on an extension cord now) and I intend to wire up a circuit for the new lights as well. Luckily, that isn't as urgent. Perhaps this weekend I will work on that; I bought circuit breakers already, but I need to see how much wire I have left.
