sorrowmonkeyMy new job is good, for the most part. However, it's been awfully busy lately, and it's really cutting into my time. First we had a major server crash on Thursday that took us until Saturday to really fix. Then, we had a similar crash on Tuesday night of this week which resulted in my spending all night in Sterling, VA.
Unfortunately, all of that time spent fixing that server doesn't make the rest of my work go away. I "went to bed' at 6:30 AM Wednesday morning, and got up at 8:30 for our standing meetings. I worked through until about 12:30, and then went to lunch. I did nap from about 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, but that was punctuated by trips to let the cats out the closets they had shut themselves in. I worked a while longer, and didn't get to sleep until close to midnight.
The real problem is not the server crashes; they are freak accidents that only happen a few times a year. The problem is that we have people who are not doing their work, for one reason or another, and I'm stuck with it. I'm working to get it off my plate because it really makes my life miserable, but it could be a few weeks before the people are competent enough to take it over.
Ah well. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to our trip to Michigan. It will be nice to get away from here for awhile, and to see my family and friends there. A Happy Memorial Day to everyone, I doubt I'll check back before then.
