Well, perhaps I've just been lucky, but until this day, I have never had to cope with hard-core undeniable plagiarism of my work.

I was reviewing the program that one of my teammates in my class turned in for his individual programming assignment, and as soon as I opened the file, I recognized my own code. He took the code that I submitted for review, changed the name at the top and about 5 lines of code. He added another printf statement, but it was so wrong that it wouldn't compile anymore.

I've never been so shocked in my life. I think we've all plagiarized a little bit in our lifetime. Perhaps we accidentally left out a reference, or maybe quoted a bit too much of someone elses text relative to our own original text.

However, it is an entirely different thing to find your own work with someone elses name at the top less than 72 hours after you released it to the public.

I've reported the guy to the instructor, but I can't imagine that she could miss it. I don't really want the guy expelled, because he might just be an idiot. However, this sort of blantant dishonorable behavior should be grounds for at least a severe chastising and grade penalty.

More than anything, I just can't imagine being stupid enough to post someone else's code to the same group of the person I stole it from. Why would this guy possibly think that was okay?
