I'm *not* dead
Feb. 16th, 2005 09:06 pmIt's been a while. I've been very busy lately, between work and school.
I had two papers due tonight, and I actually got them done early. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a trend.
Work was, um, interesting today. There was major workplace politics going on between our managers and the IT group, and we were all just trying to stay out of the way. On the high side, all of my projects are moving along well. I completed my Cognos Certification for PowerPlay Web User today, and I'm going to work on the Access Manager certification tommorrow.
If you haven't heard of Cognos, it is a Canadian company (eh?) that writes business intelligence software, and some other stuff. I'm primarily interested in the PowerPlay OLAP tools and the Report Net suite, since that meshes well with my database background. I guess Report Net is selling like hotcakes.
Also, it looks like the IT job market is on the upswing. I started getting hits on my stagnant Monster resume in January, but things really seem to have picked up speed in the last few weeks. I'm not really looking, since it's a good time for me to put in a long stint somewhere, but I think it's great news for my friends who have been looking for an IT job for months/years.
Bought some tools to fix my helmet tonight. Just stuff to tweak the shape a little, not to fix the weld/rust issue. I think I'm going to let a professional deal with that.
