weekend

So, I installed the new cap rack on the truck to put the tentpoles and other items on for the ride to Pennsic. This was an interesting project, since it involved removing the cap, installing the rack, and reinstalling the cap. I think the lessons learned include:
  • Truck caps are heavier than they look.
  • The foam seal is the hardest part to find at the store. Why?
  • Very little of adjustable cap racks and truck caps qualifies as precision engineering.
  • Many things are easier to get off than put back on.
However, overall, a successful project. If my digital camera still worked (damn) I would take a picture because I'm so darn happy about it. As it is, well, you'll see it eventually anyhow.

I also wrote a paper for my UoP team. Amazingly, one of my deadbeat teammates from the last class is also being a deadbeat in this class. Huh. Who would have thought it? I'm trying to determine the best way to publicly humiliate him or destroy his grade. Either would be acceptable retribution for having to do his share of the work. I have an individual paper due tomorrow that is only vaguely started. Happy thought, indeed.

I also installed the new scope that Bryan gave me for my birthday (only three months ago). Another situation where a worrisome amount of brute force was required for what is essentially precision machinery. However, initial rough sighting-in with the bore sight suggested that things are in relatively good shape. Might be time for a trip to the range sometime soon. It will probably be a debacle again this year for deer season anyhow.

Otherwise, just dealing with getting stuff ready for Pennsic. There is now a fairly respectable pile o'junk in the front room. Coolers, bins, j'random stuff that all needs to be organized, packed, and shoved in the truck next weekend. Should be fun.

Oh yes... I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I would rather stay home. However, they do pay me; so I think I'll go anyway. Funny, that.
