So, [livejournal.com profile] zohra and I installed a new circuit in the basement for the EnviroVent. The task involved a new outlet box, a fancy combo switch/outlet for the appliance, and about 50' of wire to the breaker box. I've learned many new things:

  1. Drilling into rock sucks. I suspected this, but now I know.
  2. Pounding staples overhead is mildly irritating, but strangely enjoyable nonetheless.
  3. Don't forget strain-reliefs. I'll have to put them in later, and that doesn't sound like fun.
  4. While removing the cover for the breaker panel, pull away before pulling down. I almost lost it when I flipped off the main with the cover.
  5. While 15 and 20 Amp circuits don't scare me, that 200A bus in the breaker panel scares the shit out of me.
  6. Installing breakers really *isn't* that hard.

I want to run another circuit for the rest of [livejournal.com profile] zohra's work lighting and appliances (wheel, or such things), but I need to get more wire and some strain reliefs first. I wanted to put the kiln vent on its own circuit so that nothing else could trip it.
