I had a great time at Bryan and Leah's little Halloween get-together last night. A lot of great people were there and a fun time was had by all. Leah baked a yummy ghost cake, some truly delicious brownies, and cookies that I just couldn't seem to stay away from. We joked and laughed, we watched Jay and Silent Bob, we drank, we giggled. It was fabulous.

So Zohra and I got home around 3 AM, and look at my email (have to work), and discover I need to make three phone calls and get up for work at 6 AM. I called California (only midnight there) and got that stuff straightened out, then went to bed with no one to blame but myself.

They were supposed to call me when they were ready for me to do my job, the dog woke me up a 7:30 AM, I took him out. I woke up next at 11:00 AM, and I call Manoj to see what the hell is going on:

[scene: a horde of application developers, all have been up all night
Manoj: Hello.
Me: Hey, what's going on?
Manoj: We tried to call you, but you didn't answer.
Me: Huh! The phone was right next to my...
Manoj: JUST KIDDING! [giggles]
Me: So, uh, when do you guys think you're going to be ready?
Manoj: [slowly, not optimistic] Maybe another 30-45 minutes.
Me: [cheerfully] Okay, just call me when you're ready!

Unreal, I can't believe the bastard who I only met yesterday (at midnight) over the phone is teasing me this morning! But it was funny.

So now I'm tied to the phone all day until they call, I only have a fixed time to do my job, so I need to start right when they call. It sort of reminds me of "Deal of the Century", where I just keep waiting and waiting, but they'll only call once.
