After a long train ride listening to podcasts, I am in a thoughtful mood. (Apparently it's going around [livejournal.com profile] thorsbaby)

At some point in the future, I'm going to need to write some papers again, so here are some ideas:

  • Legal Considerations of Self-Defense Through History
  • The Conflict Between Corporate and Individual Rights
  • Rights of Land and Rights of the Person: How Do You Choose?
  • Weapon Control Through History
  • The Moral Choice to Break the Law
  • Carbon Credits and the Barbarian Wergeld

Carbon Credits and the Barbarian Wergeld sounds like a hoot to research. Let me know if you need/want any help with that one.

I think it might be hard to make it stick, but I think there is some correlation between the ways in which Wergeld was calculated, and the way that the Algore calculates his carbon credits.

Clearly however, there are many different levels of carbon credits out there. There is the poverty level, the two-SUV family level (the so-called middle class), and the palatial palace energy doom level (the John and Elizabeth Edwards Gold Standard). I think this could be effectively mapped to the Serf, Freeman, and Lord wergelds. Do you have to pay twice the carbon credits on Christmas and Sundays?

I also think the parallels between carbon credits and indulgences are too easy.
