So it's been a while since I posted an update, other than the 101 thing.

I'm trying to get stuff done around the house that was left for dead in the past year and a half (since I didn't take last summer off, it's been basically that long since I was off school). A few things are done, including some fairly substantial garden construction in the backyard, and I finally cleaned almost all of the junk off the front porch. I changed out the screens, mowed the yard, and all that.

We've actually made it through all the dishes and all the laundry a few times, so we bought more cloth diapers, and we've been using them almost exclusively. I think we've used 3-4 disposables since we put the new pockets in rotation, only when we've gone out on extended outings. The G diapers have been awesome using the extra inserts from the cloth diapers.

Upcoming projects include pell behind the shed, camp bed (for Glen Linn), and (partially) remodeling the kitchen. At some point I need to get more dirt into two of the garden beds and mulch the pathways. It looks like I will be battling knotweed again this season, but I've eradicated it completely from 75% of the yard. Unfortunately, about half of that is now covered in raised garden beds and pathways, but...

I have to pass the IBM DataStage certification exam on Thursday, or my company loses some portion of their IBM partnership. I'm doing my best, but I wouldn't recommend wagering on it (maybe at 50-1). I didn't find out we needed it until the end of March, and that was really too close to the end of the semester for me to do anything about it before then. The only grade in so far is Trusts & Estates: I got a 'B'. That's good, since that is the exam I had to hand write, but I still would have liked higher. Hopefully the other grades will come in soon (and be A's, hah).

We finally went to the zoo. It was a good time. I liked the "fox on the stilts" (maned wolf), but I thought the tiger dreaming (twitching paws and all) was probably the cutest. Lily loved the poison dart frogs. Peacocks were quite awesome: loud and very brave.

Priscilla dropped by the other day on her way back to school. It was nice to see her. Sometimes I feel like a shut-in, even though I go out all the time, because there are so few people that I really interact with. The crowd at Wal-Mart, Babys R'us or Stop & Shop just really doesn't create that feeling of community, I guess.

Just got back from visiting my Grandma, Allen, and Brad in Bellrose Terrace. We hadn't seen them in quite a while, and none of them had met Lily yet. The drive was painless, and we had a nice dinner and then came home. I'm not particularly excited about working tomorrow, but at least I don't have to go anywhere.

Lily had us up a few times in the night, and so I'm pretty tired. [livejournal.com profile] kuzu_no_ha painted part of the dining room, and I helped a little, so we're tired from that too. I put on something like four pounds in three days. I didn't eat that much really, so I'm guessing it was too many carbs. I doubt the linguini with clam sauce will help any. Ah well.

Lot of projects, not so much time. Still, I figure a little bit at a time, and at least some things will get done. I should start buying lottery tickets: I think some of these projects would be done a lot faster if I had a few hundred million dollars.
