Feb. 21st, 2005 07:53 amI have an awesome weekend in Connecticut.
Balfar and Osgkar practiced with me for several hours on Saturday afternoon. I'm getting better, although not as rapidly as I would like. We worked on footwork a lot, trying to teach me ways to move without tiring myself out so much. I got clobbered a number of times, but managed to throw a few good shots in. It looks like I'm still getting the "B" game from members of the chivalry (probably to protect my delicate skin), although I have noticed lately that I get the "A" game from the other unbelts now.
The list of armor components I want to replace or modify only gets longer. Before I left, I knew that I need to fix the ongoing issue with the visor on my helmet, upgrade my back protection, and fix my knee protection somehow. On Saturday, Balfar let me try on his body armor, and I'm sold. I'm going to replace my current rigid body protection with a coat of Wisby plates (modified slightly), and probably my gorget as well.
I did figure out what is going on with the helmet though. I still need to resolve the rust issue with the visor stop, but the *real* problem is the rivets that hold the visor on have loosened, and now it wobbles too far to keep it in front of the stop. Going to have to tighten up those rivets, which should be fun. Not!
I had a good time partying and drinking with everyone, but there is just too much fun to detail it all. I can't wait to go again.
