(note: concert starts at 7:00 PM)

"What time would you like us to arrive tomorrow before the concert?" - anonymous
"Oh, I don't know, 6:59, 6:55, whatever..." - Mel

There is a reason why I have invited absolutely no-one to this concert. It's the first concert I've played in nine years, but it's going to be the worst performance I've been a part of since sometime in the late eighties. It's a shame, because there are some really good people in there; however, the attitude of the conductor and a few of the ensemble members is such that it's really a hopeless case.

To be fair, I basically suck. If you don't believe me, go back to the part where I admit to not having played for nine years. However, I'm playing second trumpet (a nearly optional part in most orchestras, anyhow), and I've made an honest effort at learning the music. At least I'm not grandstanding in full DIVA mode under the influence of god-knows-what controlled substance.

Ah well, one more day and then I only have to live with the shame.

"Then I only have to live with the shame. . . " that seems to sum up my feelings about the entire program quite well. Nicely stated. :/

Since it doesn't seem to matter anyway - go, have a good time, play your best and walk away with your head high.

As long as you feel you did your best, pretend you're back in the 4th or 5th grade concert - remember those . It appears to be where Mel's head is at when it's not up his ass....

I need to start practicing again... I miss playing...
