Yesterday, I spent the day alternately working from home, celebrating Zohra for her birthday, and closing on the house. Everything went very well.

The closing took forever, because my bank was being a bunch of low-grade asshats about things like punctuation marks in the HUD statements; according the Claire (the legal secretary) this is normal. It delayed the closing however, since my Bank of Stupid was just generally running late on everything. I got to sit for a long while and chat with my attorney and the seller's attorney while we waited for checks and paperwork, mostly about hockey and little league, but also about Connecticut law schools and how they started their practices.

I could have used Selena's hand truck this morning. I have to park the truck in one of the New Haven parking structures, and I didn't want to do that with a bunch of my junk in the back. Also, my asshat neighbors parked one of their cars on my side of the driveway and another car *NEXT* to it. I had to hump my boxes another 50 feet or so to get them into the house. Oh, and this load was almost entirely hardback books.

The rain was just an unforeseeable circumstance of nature. My new neighbors can and will learn to respect my borders.

I'm going to go get cleaned up soon, and head off to work. I really wish I didn't have to, but it's been nearly two weeks since I was actually there, so I think I should probably make the effort.

I've moved about 30 boxes so far, but I have probably another 100 or so left to move. Clearly, the hand truck would be very helpful in that process. ;-)

I think probably seeing a bunch of big armored guys on my lawn would be enough to convince them to respect my authori-tay. We'll see. They might be the most reasonable people in the world, but I don't park my car in other people's driveways unless asked to.
