Dunny turned up, he was trapped in a void in the kitchen cabinets. The previous owners had conveniently built-in a one-way trap door in the corner of the cabinetry. Once [livejournal.com profile] zohra started pouring food into the mega feeder, Dunny was distressed enough to bitch about it. She saw him poke his head out of the available space, and after ten minutes, some catnip, and a slight mookification of the cabinetry, we have our cat back. I broke the trapdoor mechanism, which means that the cats have free reign of the void space, but can't get stuck. Not a great long-term solution, but it seems like a perfect short term fix to me.

The drive to Michigan was long, long, and long. About twelve hours, and we only stopped four times. The border crossing into Canada was painless, but getting back into the US was backed up inexplicably. They didn't really ask any more questions than the Canadians did, so I guess they liked me. Incidentally, [livejournal.com profile] zohra has forbidden me to talk to customs officials in the future.

I got my LSAT results last night. I got a 162, which is in the 87th percentile. It's probably not good enough to get me into Yale, but it puts me at or above the median score of most of my other school choices. I'm not really happy with it, since I was hoping for more like a 170, but as [livejournal.com profile] zohra pointed out, I'm not willing to take it again, either. It will have to do.

I slept in until about 10:30 AM this morning, and now I feel somewhat human again. I'm supposed to be working, since I've logged only about fifteen hours so far this week. Foop. Even accounting for the holiday, I really need that number to be more like thirty. Moving sucks.

I love you all, and if I don't get a chance to talk to you again, merry Christmas and happy holidays!

so... um... what did you do while talking to the customs person that she has forbidden you to ever talk to them again?

That's the plan. There are a number of decent schools nearby, and I've been thinking about changing my focus from IT to something else ever since the dot-com crash. I've been doing this for quite a while, and the advancement potential from this spot is pretty much nil.

What didn't you like about law school? Are you in private practice now?

oh just imagine Nathan as when you worked with him. Now imagine him speaking to the border police. see?

Apparently it goes much smoother if I prompt him from the passenger seat.

well let's see. The faces of Nathan that I met at work:

1) *conholio voice* "Are you threatening me?!"
2) *sysadmin voice* "WHY THE HELL ARE ALL USERS SUCH IDIOTS?"
3) *geek voice* "Are you in the SCA? You said something about flourentining with two keyboard wrist pads, it kind of tipped me off."
4) *good mood voice* "Wow, this is funny. Come look!"
5) *Stressed, trying to put on good mood voice* "This is heavy. I could throw it at you, and it would hurt. A lot. in fact, I... WOW!! Oh, cool! A red stapler!!"
6) **GRUMBLE**

Heh. I don't see what you could possibly have been worried about!
