I'm sitting on the floor in the office of our apartment in Pennsylvania.

How did this happen, you ask?

I went and bought a dryer today, at the Sears Outlet store. It was a mob scene, but I managed to get it in the truck and on the way home by noon. I managed to catch [livejournal.com profile] zohra before she ran off to [livejournal.com profile] darthluna's for a mad shopping spree, and she helped me get it upright and out of the truck. I strapped it to the handcart (thanks [livejournal.com profile] osgkar), dismounted the door, and ran it down to the basement. About halfway down the stairs, the phone rang. After I got the dryer all the way down, I found out it was the girls, and they were offering to take me out for lunch. We went off to Friendly's, and they dropped me back.

So, time to hook all this junk up. I managed to get the washer mostly hooked up, although cold water only. Apparently, although every washer in the world has two supply lines, Home Depot sells the hoses individually. So, since we mostly wash with cold, I just hooked that up. The drain hose is leaking a bit, but not enough to freak me out too much, I will deal with it later. The dryer hook up was easy, and largely uneventful.

About this time, [livejournal.com profile] zohra and [livejournal.com profile] darthluna returned from the mad shopping spree, and I sat with them for a bit before I got in the truck to drive back to Pennsylvania.

I have quite a bit to accomplish while I'm here:

  1. Pack truck
  2. Go to the bank to deposit checks
  3. Talk with Diane about spare table, see if her friend wants it
  4. Clean carpets
  5. Mop floors
  6. Throw out garbage. Current list includes:
    • Work bench
    • Basement shelf
    • Dining room table and chairs
    • Old Sparc 5s and shelf for them
    • Exercise bike
    • Half of King size box spring set
    • Torch lamps
    • Pots and planters
    • Air mattress
    • Verizon DSL modem
    • Litter box
    • Contents of refrigerator
    • Shop vac(?)
    • Vacuum and carpet cleaner(?)
  7. Check for packages at leasing office
  8. Drop of keys
  9. Drive home
Should be fun. I'm tired now. I didn't get much work work done today, but I did get going on my school work today. Ick.

Oh right, and the license plates on the cars expire on Saturday. Oops.

You're throwing away an exercise bike? And torchieres? And a Verizon modem? Any chance you could "throw them away" at D&D's?

It is a fifty foot walk to the dumpster, or a big bag of suck to load it all into the truck, drive it to D&Ds, unload it there, and drive back. I really have enough to do before I can go home that I'm not keen on adding things now. I'm not particularly looking forward to driving on a holiday weekend as it is.
