So I have to fill out and sign a form about the missing paycheck, certifying that I did not receive paycheck number such-and-such for such-and-such amount, in the presence of a notary and send it back. This amuses the crap out of me because it was my employer's error that caused the paycheck to get lost, and now I have to run around to prove that I didn't steal it. For all I know, they never actually mailed the damn thing.

Bastards.

Perhaps someone in the banking industry can tell me... Why can't direct deposit work the first time?

It's stupid. And unfortunately, you seem to have gotten stupid paranoid banking in the same sock as stupid employer behavior. One might be managable, but together it's ridiculous.

I'm pleased with Liberty Bank (I'd give them a 8.5 out of 10) and I'm thrilled with my credit union (they get 10 out of 10). I've never used Wachovia so I can't say wether your experience is typical, but I have to recommend moving your accounts if you're unhappy.
