I got to the train station about a quarter after seven, and was on the 7:26 AM train which puts me at Thomson in Stamford around 8:30 AM. I meet the most timely of my coworkers in the hallway (she can't find her badge, and is locked out).
About 10:30 AM, I find out that there is an evening dinner planned for the home team, to kick off the new project. Good to know, I was planning on leaving early and getting home to work on the house. Ah well.
We toddle off from the office about 5:00 PM to get to the restaurant by way of the hotel, where Mike hasn't checked in yet. Dinner was good, but took forever. I escorted Allyson back to the hotel at 8:30 PM, in time for her to catch "24" and for me to grab my laptop from Mike's room. I ask the hotel staff for a shuttle taxi, and they say they'll call when it is ready. Mike turns up and I spent the intervening time talking him out of the ISA tree over the badness that is happening here.
The shuttle turns up at around 9:15 PM, and I end up on the 9:51 PM (yuck) train to New Haven. I arrive in New Haven around 11:00 PM, and drive home. At around 11:15 I stumble in the door, greet
zohra and let Bran out. I grab the receipts I have to resend to the home office because they lost them (oops, still need to do this), and get ready for bed.
In summary: I had what I consider a pretty long day, particularly considering that I have very little to show for it at the end except goodwill from my boss and the customer. That's nice and all, but I had a list of things I personally wanted to acheive, and basically none of that stuff got done.
In the interest of being the shiny-new-getting-stuff-done guy, I got up at 6:00 AM this morning to try again. We'll see.
Way to Go!
Date: 2006-02-07 05:08 pm (UTC)It is SO nice to feel like you've accomplished something - even if that something is difficult to point to! It's the accomplishment thing that is SO cool!
Hang in there. Here's to hoping you can keep the momentum!
